“Water is the key to the future of my people” - Nazir Mohamad Abusin

In close collaboration with Nazir Abusin, chief of chiefs of the Shukria people, we are working to bring an abundant supply of clean, reliable water to As Sufayya. He and his council of elders selected this small village in the desertified Butana region of eastern Sudan as the most water-deficient in his tribe’s lands.

Your tax-deductible contribution will help launch a comprehensive initiative, starting with an initial well tapping into a large, self-renewing aquifer we located just outside the village - sufficient to provide drinking water, hygiene stations, and water for domestic livestock. Water will unlock the door to irrigation and intensive agriculture along with an array of essential services and development opportunities, enabling this community to re-imagine their future even as they face into the region’s worst drought in over 50 years.
